Don’t have immunisations with live vaccines while you’re having treatment and for up to 12 months afterwards. Ask your doctor or pharmacist how long you should avoid live vaccinations. Talk to your doctor or nurse about effective contraception before starting your cancer treatment. Let them know straight away if you or your partner falls pregnant while having treatment.

You may become very ill if you catch these, even if you’ve previously been infected. You should avoid close contact with anyone who has these infections and seek medical advice if you are exposed, or if a member of your household gets one of these infections. A third of genericpharmacies gym-goers are aware of steroid use in their gym, and some people even share needles and phials (it goes without saying this is a bad idea). Steroids for asthma

Methylprednisolone can irritate the lining of your stomach and cause side effects like heartburn or indigestion. You may be prescribed other medicines to protect the lining of your stomach (this is often omeprazole or ranitidine). Methylprednisolone can also cause difficulties with sleeping so taking the pills in the morning will help to minimise this.

The risks

Overall, steroid medications can cause bone to break down faster than it is made. This can weaken bones and make you more at risk of osteoporosis and breaking a bone. If you take steroids for a long time, you might be at risk of osteoporosis, where your bones become thin and weak.

Please ask your doctor for more information about immunisations. While anabolic-androgenic steroids are not often thought about as an addictive drug, or even readily abused drug – they actually are. Most likely the people are right in front of you, and you think they look great because they are muscular. It will never be, and they will work towards destroying their bodies with steroids in their effort to reach this unattainable goal.

Risk factors of steroid-induced diabetes

Myopathy can lead to muscle weakness, often in your hips and shoulders. If this happens, your legs and arms might feel weaker than usual, making some tasks difficult – for example, climbing steps, getting up from a chair, reaching to hang washing, and getting dressed. It is also possible that a topical steroid could irritate your skin or cause an allergic reaction. If this happens, you will be given a different type of topical steroid treatment.
